The standard way to do this in Ubuntu is simply
"sudo /etc/update-rc.d service defaults 90" (where service is the
/etc/init.d/ script you want to add)
For the record, hitting "update<Tab>" in a bash shell is quite
revealing (and prolly documented somewhere :-)
