So you've got an Nvidia "softnic" (rather like a softmodem, so kind of icky
if you're looking for performance) and a Realtek, which are not widely known
for their performance. I'm not sure that explains the full extent of your
performance problems, but it's a start.

Are there any control utilities or module parameters for forcedeth? Perhaps
you could switch it between performance modes (to favour CPU or throughput,
pick your poison).

Long shot: Make sure you have a good cable.
