I've decided to upgrade to Edgy. I've taken the following steps:

Download ISO Burn to Disk
Re-insert disk and get excited when Synaptic pops up automatically
Use the Synaptic menu item to update sources.list with the new CDROM
Stare blankly at the Synaptic screen, looking for something that says
        "dist-upgrade" or equivalent :-(
Quit out of synaptic
Manually edit /etc/apt/sources.list
Verify CDROM line is present and correct
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
Wait while everything is downloaded from the internet again :-(

In the good old days before Dapper (Woody, Warty, Hoary, Breezy), this
was never a problem. What am I doing wrong? I have several more machines
to do so I don't really want to go through this process too often.
Please excuse me if I'm being remarkably stupid.

David.
