Much as I'd hate to admit this, I can understand them - Sticking to
something that supposed to be a TOOL rather than a main issue of their work
and that the rest of their environment uses and familiar with just makes
sense.
In that regard you are probably right that the pressure to change should be
applied mostly on the head, i.e. DET.

Stats to say otherwise would be useful of course, but a real point in
favour of something else would be the ability to configure the time
slots on a calendar to align with school periods. I think schools would
be willing to skip features and exchange just to have that available.
Apparently Microsoft have been asked to add that feature (but people
aren't holding their breath of course).


Just looked around for "Linux-based Exchange Replacements" the other day and
got a hunch that Scalix looks like a good candidate. Have you evaluated it
yet?
