The March 2007 issue of Linux Journal has an article about the creation
of an MPD-based Audio Appliance using the above 3 programs.
Unfortunately the article does not give specifics/examples of setting up
these programs.
I have installed them on the PC that I wish to use to serve the audio
files and I have installed the gmpc client on another machine, all on my
home LAN.
MPD is installed in /usr/bin and both lightTPD and MPD are running
automatically at boot-up.
From the client machine I can access the default web page of the
lightTPD server.
I am new to servers etc and am not sure what to do next.
I think that MPD needs to be "seen" by lightTPD so I'm guessing that I
need to either relocate the MPD script or symlink to it from lightTPD.
lightTPD keeps its'scripts in /usr/lib/cgi-bin ( or syminks to scrips
that are located elsewhere).
Is a php script the same as a cgi script? ( sorry if that seems to be a
"dumb" question)
Do I need to symlink /usr/lib/cgi-bin to /usr/bin/mpd?
Is there something that I need to do to get lightTPD to run MPD?
How can I determine whether or not phpMp is running?
What do I need to do to remotely access phpMp via my client PC's browser?
I have posted to the MPD Forum but no replies yet.
By the way, the server is running Sidux 2007-01
Any advice/links etc appreciated.
Thanks
Bill
