You shouldn't need this, unless you plan to control it from outside your 
own network.  mpd has minimal security, so unless you have a good reason 
it's probably not a good idea.

When I said "possibly open the port on the firewall" I meant if the 
computer running mpd has a restrictive firewall, not the firewall to 
your whole network.
