Yes please Jeff. Of the 40-odd Australian universities about a third use
sendmail. So unless you are running something like hotmail, what are the
demonstrated scalability issues with sendmail for sites of less than
100,000 users?
The rest of your mail, and an astute comment from one of your other mails,
describes why original comparison is amusing (aside from the amusement value
of the poster): Scalability no longer depends on the MTA, sendmail is mostly
in use where it has a large traditional install base, there are relatively
few greenfields sendmail deployments, new deployments favour modern MTAs,
etc. But mostly it was the amusement value of another bizarre statement from
Oscar. I should not feed... :-)
Jeff can't help but be childish in his replies if any one else notice.
Again, refer to the archives of SLUG.
Because Jeff's childishness is apparent in many of his commentaries, I
can't help but wonder why some people have
to put up with his behavior.
Childish responses does not help us understand the
advantages/disadvantages of one server over the other.
So, Jeff tell us what you know about sendmail compared to postfix and
I'll explain to you why sendmail is such
a professional and scalable server.
