Hi Veronica,

Yeah, I've had a look at my local Myer store. They were quite good - I had it in my hot little hands for about 20 mins. I'm conflicted about the machine and so am going to wait until I'm a bit more certain of what I think.

I've had some PMs going with a couple of people and this has assisted in my uncertainty :))

I'm not looking to replace anything with it (have desktops and laptops) more to fill a gap or provide a functionality I don't presently have.

The biggest hurdle is the v.small keyboard. I'm hopefully going to be able to have another play with one (privately owned) and see what I think then.

Good luck with the Atari :)))

Regards,

Patrick

I just returned mine to Myers today - no internal modem and no regular
serial port so no dial up internet. The shop assistant took it back
no worries. Penrith Myer has the Eee PC in a display case. Not real
pleased overall - was hoping for a ready to use linux install, but the
way its set up you can't free up more harddisk space by removing
software without heavy duty fiddling. Then finding the telephone jack
on the side probably doesn't go anywhere...

Hope you get to have a look at one. I think that's the first new
computer I've ever had! I'll go back to my old comfortable ones now,
though the Atari Portfolio is behaving very strangely - could it be
wearing out at last?

Veronica

I visited Myers in the city (George St, near QVB) and they have four units on

whole experience to be honest...

Hi all,

My apologies in advance. I'm posting this to slug
rather than -chat to reach a broader audience.

Is there anyone in the Sydney area who owns an
eeepc that would let me come over and have a
'touch' :)
