The size and portability mainly. The fact that it runs GNU/Linux hasn't hurt 
it either :)

For an 'appliance' type computer, absolutely. It starts to make a lot more 
sense if you compare it to other portable devices like phones and PDAs rather 
than to full-blown computers. Don't expect to do a huge amount of 
multi-tasking on it, but in terms of sheer convenience it's a winner.
