Unfortunately I'm just going to add some confusion because I recommend against CentOS and Ubuntu. OpenSUSE may be good only if you plan to use it on relatively powerful PC.
If you're choosing only between CentOS and OpenSUSE, the last one is more up to date and it is original. You will be truly rewarded with unprecedented universality and stability if you choose Debian. "Specific software requirements" in most cases can be slightly bended to fit the best OS which may be far more important in long term. Regards, Dmitry.
