Dear Carlton,
Your post is totally uncalled for. Given that all these mirrors are
maintained on a volunteer basis, and many of us responded to your
request for help on a good will basis, there is absolutely no reason why
you need to flame the entire community.
Your initial post and subsequent replies were vague ("explain the
mirror"?!?!) on your exact difficulties, yet you expect timely and
accurate remedies to your situation. Given that you seem to have at
least *some* technical ability, we would have expected to see details
from your troubleshooting analysis. But instead of providing these, you
provided a bunch of latency timings. These are useless in
troubleshooting, since every server have different bandwidth and load,
and every broadband provider have a different peering agreement. Then
you immediately accused everyone of not helping you out. Are you trying
to be funny?
If you wanted to have a flamewar with the administrators of these
mirrors, you could have asked. They would most probably simply blacklist
you though. The fact is, the mirrors are all maintained by a "team" of
at most 2 people each, on a volunteer basis. Out of good will to do
something for the community. Prestige is not even in the picture --
their names are not emblazoned on the mirror sites. All in all, they
seem to be doing more for the community than you are, with your
unfounded accusations and flamebait.
Go back under your bridge, troll
