BTW, if you have the Hard Disk Space and RAM, you can encourage your
students still using Windows to experiment by installing linux in
virtual environments (using VirtualBox, VMWare, etc.).  This is a very
pain-free way to trying out different distributions (Fedora, Ubuntu,
Linux Mint, etc.) and allowing them to discover the distribution that
best meets their needs/likes.

Yes - my students are using Ubuntu full-time, with Windows 7 running in Virtualbox.

They love it. I guess almost everyone is sick and tired of viruses and Windows, but most, if not all students don't know any better (my students are 17+ years of age), since they have been trained from Primary One by the Microsoft Ministry Of Education.

Oh well...

Those who have the $$$ have moved on to the MacBook (also a result of the iPhone halo effect)... Those who regretted buying PC notebooks with Windows are now game to try Ubuntu.
