Yes,
first APPo must be set to ethernet side and second APPo must be set to wireless
side. The primary port always (as in ALWAYS wether you think you need it or not
*info for others, not you Jason :-)*) points to the gateway leaving the subnet
or network IE. to the internet,router,DHCP...

way, both APPOs are static IPs. Therefore, I don’t think the DHCP
Ethernet/Wireless should matter – correct me if I am wrong. Is this setting only
for the APPO DHCP retrieval, or does it affect pass-through?
If I am
wrong, this would explain my problem, since DHCP would be coming from the other
side of the wireless link. No I am
really turned around (head throbbing more
now). Jason -----Original
Message----- More
background… The reason a problem has developed is
this: I
previously had a router with DHCP server between the DSL Modem and first APPO. I
had the second APPO plugged into a LAN port on the D-Link, along with a Vonage
ATA in another LAN port. Several computers connected to the D-Link wirelessly.
The computers and ATA got DCHP info from the first router. The D-Link had DHCP
disabled and nothing in the WAN port (it was acting as a switch rather than a
gateway). The
router plugged into the DSL modem died (damn Linksys BEFSR41). So I plugged the
first APPO directly into the DSL modem. I wanted to plug other APPO into the WAN
port of the D-Link and turn on it’s DHCP server. But damned if the D-link can’t
get WAN info from the DSL modem. My head
hurts (presumably from banging it on the
desk). Jason -----Original
Message----- I am
having a problem passing DHCP over a PtP link of APPOs. Here is what I
have: DSL
Modem – APPO Wireless Bridge – APPO Wireless Bridge – DSL Router (Cheapo D-Link
714P) – Devices The DSL
router is not getting its WAN info from the DSL
modem. However…
If I do: DSL
Modem – APPO Wireless Bridge – APPO Wireless Bridge – Vonage ATA
or DSL
Modem – APPO Wireless Bridge – APPO Wireless Bridge – Computer w/ Wireless
ethernet adapter (on another channel from the APPO wireless bridge, of
course) … the
ATA or computer is able to get a WAN address. The Vonage phone works or the
computer can browse the Internet. Furthermore,
if I plug the remote APPO into a LAN port of the router, and the ATA into
another LAN port, the ATA can get a WAN address and work
fine. I could
plug the router directly into the DSL modem and see if it works, but that is not
practical at this very second. Any ideas? Jason
