I have to chime in here.
A white paper should not be required to correctly read proper dbm values on
a 802.11b device.
A conversion table should be required.
A properly designed software package that tells you what you have out of the
box is required.
My Cisco Aironet cards are great for this, it is always within 10% of my
spectrum analyzer.

 WTF? Cant smartbridges even get a simple RSSI display correct??? They need
to study other 802.11b systems for a  while I guess...
