Thanks! So the device will work, just not the software? I can live with that. I just set it up in the office, plug it into their hub (they don't have a router but said they will get one if they need it) and then I can see it and manage it with NMS. That will work. BTW, do you know anything about the Apple Air Port stuff? I have someone else who wants to sign up who is on ISDN right now with an Apple Air Port Base Station. Can we use that to hook them up? They are really close to our water tower, like two blocks away.
For you first client just put an airBridge on the WAN side of a broadband router and put all the macs and pee-cees and linii (plural of linux) boxes you want on the LAN side. You can configure the airBridge with your PC (or any PC) as there's pretty much no need for any client, regardless of computer type, to be messing with the configuration. Any smartbridge airBridge will do depending on your install (inside, outside, total).
As for the second client with an AirPort Base Station, no. An ABS is an access point, so there's no way to get it to talk to your WISP network's access points. You can however attach an ABS to the LAN side at the client, and they can use any 80211b device to connect to it. They can even use an 80211g device if they have an AirPort Extreme.
The only way a mac with an AirPort card can talk to your WISP directly is if they are within ~100 feet clear LOS of your access point. It can be done, cause I do it from a sidewalk cafe here in my city. Of course macs with AirPort cards with external piggie and amps and antennas can reach access points that are further then 100' away.
