You know, if they would let us know everything that they know about it.. or even acknowledge the problem fully.. I think everyone's temper would calm down a LOT.
Lots of people (including myself) are getting mad and frustrated because they keep getting the same reply from SB. "Check out your stuff, RMA the units if you want" That's basically telling me "You screw up, it's not our equipment, it's you. I'll ok a RMA just to please you". Sorry, but that's the feeling I've been getting here. Right now, I would be happy to return this equipment for what I paid for it... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Marlon Schafer (509-982-2181) Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2003 18:00 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [smartBridges] SH!T is hitting the FAN!! I never said it didn't look like there wasn't a problem here. And you should see what I've been doing to the owner of the company off list ;-). But I've seen this before. It'll blow over if they fix things soon. And they've been HONEST with us. When's the last time that's happened? Something is wrong. We're seeing about 20% failures. I don't know how much of that is because of the rma and bstock issues though. marlon ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Wirefree Network" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2003 12:35 PM Subject: RE: [smartBridges] SH!T is hitting the FAN!! Actually I used my grasshopper (built in SA). Common sense would normally point away from interference, but I have tried everything else...so I figured I would check it out. But...as I thought, no interference. I have one client (with a new bad unit) right next door (100 feet away) who loses association sometimes. All of my clients (except one or two) are averaging 93% RSSI and 90% LQ. Where my head-end WiPoP is, is actually down in a little recessed valley surrounded on three sides by an 80 ft burm with dense trees. On the remaining side is a creek bed with even thicker trees. Therefore, this area is VERY isolated when it comes to RF. I am the only game here. I then have two repeaters up on the burm (clear wide open hole through the trees) that retransmit my signal on two different channels outward. There is not just one channel affected. There is not just one area affected. There is not just one radio affected. It is 95% of my newly installed units...and not one older unit!! Come on now Marlon...you know what this looks like....you probably even know for a fact. I do SUPER appreciate your assistance though. Especially coming from you...you probably don't remember, but I actually contacted you when this WISP idea was just that...an idea. You gave me several pointers and spoke very highly of sB. Because it'll affect lower end installs first. Those with the least amount of rssi. The ap can't see them. Did you TEST for interference? Do you have a spectrum analyzer or at least the tt tool? I've had a lot of interference out here. Some of it from almost 40 miles away. It'll cause strange things...... marlon ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Wirefree Network" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2003 11:23 AM Subject: RE: [smartBridges] SH!T is hitting the FAN!! Well...if I think about it...and I have...I would have to say NO. How could interference be the problem with knocking a total of 15 units off line on 3 separate channels spread out over a 5 mile radius?? Sure...if I had a really bad competitor...he could be firing up some 20 watt amp and flooding all the channels...but that would affect ALL my units...not just the newly installed (june procured) "crappy chip" units. I have another 30 units on this WiPoP that have been in place since January without losing association once (unless the head-end goes down of course). Thanks for the idea though. No sarcasm there. I just know what the problem really is...and I know it is not with the install, nor the power, nor the client's pc, nor the weather, nor interference, nor the cabling, nor anything else ANYONE comes up with. It is the equipment. Plain and simple. There are two sides of the smartBridges forum fence. The side that stands behind them STRONG (because they have been lucky enough to NOT get any of the shitty units), and the side that is fed up totally. I am standing on top of the fence. After I replace the units I receive tomorrow, I will see which side of the fence to jump to. Are you sure you don't have an interference problem? We had an ABO that would lose association once or twice per day, even with the new firmware. I went out there, replaced and re-aimed the antenna, replaced the LMR-400 jumper, and it was been solid ever since then. On Sun, 24 Aug 2003, The Wirefree Network wrote: > Damn it!
