I had a similar problem, ended up I did a shitty job os sealing the
connector(beer was involved)but it was like clock work the sun would come up
APPO would go down for about an hour untill the moisture was dried out by
the sun. Don't sound like your problem though, but hopes this helps some.

Are you sure you don't have an interference problem? We had an ABO that
would lose association once or twice per day, even with the new firmware.
I went out there, replaced and re-aimed the antenna, replaced the LMR-400
jumper, and it was been solid ever since then.
