Yep.. about the same with here. At 50 we started getting AOL/MSN messenger kick-off's. VPN failures with uploads. Basically anything that is not resilient to latency/ packet loss.. although again, my ping watchers (20 pings every 5 minutes) show little to no packet loss..... Whoaa...now that did hit a note there. As I said before, I have 60+ clients (and 40G per month) going through 1 aPPo. With no problems.......EXCEPT ONE MAYBE.... I have had a couple clients say that their AOL connection keeps getting dropped. Not sure what AOL connection they are speaking of though. I guess they are logging into AOL companion or AOL chat, and then surfing. A few minutes goes by, and they get bumped off. Not sure if this is related to what you all are speaking of?? No matter how many 802.11b vendors you quiz.. you will find that most say 30-50 clients maximum without service degradation per AP... (depending on your RF situation..). I find it more than coincidental they all say the same thing, so I don't think its a hardware issue, but a protocol issue. (Great, gonna open that one when I haven't even read the full protocol or thought about this issue...) sort of like T-1 protocol for Telco's.. no matter how beefy your equipment is... its still only 24 channels, and thats it! (23 if your PRI.. ;)). We got one of our Cisco's to 32 clients, and then we started having some interesting, non-traceable events happening. Our at first thought latency, or packet loss, and started our ping studies (20 pings, every 5 minutes, measure roundtrip and latency) nothing wrong, but we still have customers that did on-line gaming that were getting kicked off by the game more and more often. Cisco claims 32 max... (amazing that they may have been right).. we have since stretched it to 50... We are going to be adding more radio's shortly and this will break up this over- subscribed radio.. we will then know if its a subscriber limit issue... Scott (PS.. Gaming and other "streaming" applications are the only ones that appear affected, so Ciscos buffers must be masking the issue pretty well...) -----Original Message----- From: Martin Moreno <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Sun, 19 Oct 2003 20:29:21 -0700 Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Beta 1.0.08 locking up Ethernet anyone else?? > All my clietns are exaclty the same firmware etc. > > In my personal opinion is that the SB stuff just cant handle the amoutn > of > clients and traffic I am passing plain and simple.
