A yagi does not have a narrower beam than a dish. That 24 dbi grid dish
has a beamwidth of about 8 degrees. Yagis will be much wider than that.

Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Passive Repeaters
Kevin
I have some of those 24 db wire grid antennas I got from your company.
Would those work better than 24 db yagis (or do they even make such a
thing?) I was thinking that perhaps the narrower beam on a yagi might
be
better (though I have honestly never used a yagi before.).
Sevak: The solar panel would be a last resort. I *think* there is a silo
in the middle of this that does have power and might have LOS between
the
two, but I'm not sure. But if I do that, I'm looking at two APPOs
($660.00) and two antennas ($150.00) and giving the silo owner free
internet service ($17.95 per month), all for one customer. So that
wouldn't really be worth it, though I agree that it is the ideal
solution.
Thanks
Sam
