Hi Rick,
The LQ suddenly jumping means perhaps it's a problem with Reflected signal, or SNR. The interference and reflections can also cause low LQ.
Here are the various reasons for the fluctuating LQ.
· This can be fixed by rotating the aBT little bit towards the main APPT direction. Are the units placed with the line of sight? If there is any obstructions like tree and water may observe the signal. If possible increase the height of the both devices and see if there is any difference in the LQ.
· The distance between the APPT and ABT is about 1500ft means, it seems like both devices are over transmitting the signal, it may cause interference with other wireless devices. Please ensure that the power is not too high for the shorter distance, the reason being any clients from the various units then will be able to see the main AP itself causing interference. The problem might be having a lot of RF power coming out of from the system and causing interference or SNR. To reduce the device transmission power, you could try to lower down the unit output power using Dial-power option.
· Sometimes if there is high level of noise from the other transmitters (out of band) nearby the AP or CPE location may lower down the LQ. IF still the LQ value not improved, then it might be necessary to move the aBT to the new location and re adjust the POLORIZATION, DIRECTIVITY OR DOWNTILT to reduce the noise level.
Thank you

I just setup an airPoint TOTAL and an airBridge TOTAL. The link is about 1500'
RSSI is 100 and the Link Quality rides steadily in the mid 90's.
The Link Quality, however, suddenly dives to 50 or less on occassion... like maybe once or twice every 30 seconds. The RSSI remains at 100.
I tried changing channels but this hardly affects it.
