Why not just make life easier on yourself.. Just use a online
calculator and factor out the numbers....

http://www.gweep.net/%7Esfoskett/tech/poecalc.html

if you need help translate the wire gauge size..
http://www.mogami.com/e/cad/wire-gauge.html

You know one thing is that since sB uses only one cable for up then
you have to factor in just one pair for power which means a difference
between 14.5v and 17.1v over 200ft so if they had used 2 then you
would have been able to use a 15V psu instead of a 18v psu on 200ft.
That very same 15V would more then likely been enough for a 300ft run
as well while you would have to use a 20v PSU with the 1 wire...

KP> Since most power supply manufacturers go from 12V to 15V to 18V to 24V,
KP> that limits your options some. You could figure out exactly what you

KP> CAT5 you were going to use. I don't have it and haven't taken the time
KP> to drag out the multimeter to measure it. Probably should.

KP> My cable run is about 250 feet. I ended up using an 18V adapter from my
KP> notebook PC. The SB site says 15-18V for runs longer than 180 feet.

KP> My question is do you use 15V at 200 feet, 16V at 225 feet, 17V at 250
KP> feet etc. It seems like a pretty big gap between 12V to 18V to allow
KP> for an additional 120 feet (to the max of 300)

KP> It would be really nice if Smartbridges were to actually certify at

KP> one if not several power supply options.

KP> When we start talking about "be careful of the smoke" we are just

KP> I am awaiting the release of the POE outdoor. Even though I have no

KP> pay for.

KP> Something bothers me about going out to the local Radio Shack for a
KP> power
KP> supply to run my AP's etc.. Not to knock Radio Shack but this is a
KP> situation that needs a commercial grade type solution, not an 18VDC
KP> power
KP> supply intended for the general public.
