Sean,

From the internet connection at your NOC, the signal goes through CAT5 to an Airpoint Pro access point.  LMR400 connects the access point to it’s antenna.  That signal goes over the air to the customer’s antenna.  Your antenna is connected via LMR400 to the Airbridge Outdoor (CPE).  From there, the signal is taken in the building to a NIC, switch or preferably, a small router.

There is a wide variety of antennas available to work with these radios, from the “pizza box” looking panels to parabolic dishes.

The guys in here are pretty sharp and are willing to help.  The Smartbridges website also has a ton of good information as well as the site you signed up for this list on.  Another good site is planet-isp.com.  There is a boatload of info there on all of the aspects of being an ISP, not just a wireless ISP.

Subject: [smartBridges] Setting up Equipment

Please excuse my ignorance & stupidity on this, I’ve looked for several hours on google and I can’t find a straight answer. We are currently getting costs numbers to deploy our wisp. We have decided to use SmartBridges equipment. My question is this… >From the antenna on the tower, the signal is sent down to the CPE (airbridge??) that is outside... from here we run a LMR400 cable to the airPoint (with Ethernet)? Also when I was previously looking at Raylink they had the pizza box like dishes outside. Is that also what the airbridge is? Or is that another piece of equipment that will be bought? Again, please excuse how stupid this may sound, but I can’t find any resources on this and were trying to figure out how much many we are going to need for deployment. I also realize we will need mounting brackets, cable, switches, and other equipment. But I’m just trying to get the prices for the equipment here.

-Thanks
