This is one of the many new features of release 5.39 :-)

If configured with --enable-drivedb, drive database file 
/usr/share/smartmontools/drivedb.h is installed and used if present. You 
can also add local entries to /etc/smart_drivedb.h, see '-B' option at 
smartctl man page.
