Sorry if this has been discussed already: Does network access in the Global Zone work?‎ If it does I would expect that the issue is with the local Zone config. In the zone json you copied in one of your previous messages you did not provide a gateway and resolver entry...

NIC in VBox is set to bridging interface and promise mode set to 'Allow All'. And the logged in user has write access to /dev/net/net0 But still the zone can't reach the outer world

If you have set the NIC in VirtualBox to a bridging interface and allow promise mode you should be all set up.
Some people tho have problems with VirtualBox where the GZ gets network connected but every created zone can’t reach the outer world.

Check if your logged in user has write access to the VirtualBox network device in /dev as well.

If you are in a zone, and with VirtualBox, you may need to do some tweak as default SmartOS only setup for VMware.

Quick steps:

delete the vmwarebr first

dladm remove-bridge -l e1000g0 vmwarebr
dladm delete-bridege vmwarebr

then create a vboxbr and link to the main nic

dladm create-bridge -l e1000g0 vboxbr

 ​s! Output of dladm show-phys, dladm show-link, and json content has been attached (smartos-snap-gz). Output of dladm show-phys,dladm show-link inside the zone also has been attached (smartos-snap-nongz). What configuration did I miss? Any help is much appreciated. 

P.S: I am not sure if this is the right place to seek this kind of help, if not kindly guide me in the right direction.
