For what it's worth, we never use VGA ourselves and certainly haven't modified any of the code that would be responsible for driving the VGA device. Whatever we have comes straight from illumos, the same place those other operating systems get theirs. If you're getting output by default on the serial console, maybe you're using SDC instead of SmartOS? By default, SDC uses ttyb for all console I/O starting with the banner (you can modify this by setting an option at the boot loader). If you saw this behaviour with SmartOS, I can only assume it's the product of some alteration to the standard USB image. It would be worthwhile to inspect the GRUB boot line for the kernel to see what console options were being passed. ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
