Glad it worked for you.  I'm also glad you brought this up, as I was
thinking about upgrading my zone to the newest base64 image, but it sounds
like there may be an issue with it related to Samba.  I'm sure the Joyent
devs are on it.

Samba 3 will work fine for you in this role until the Samba team sorts out
Samba 4 as a file server.  I know they are working hard to integrate more
of the fileserver features into Samba 4 right now.  I just read the release
notes for Samba 4.2 release cadidate and it looks like they've made some
good headway with this version.   I am not convinced they are going to get
away with doing an end of life on Samba 3.6 anytime soon though.  There's a
HUGE jump in technology difference going from Samba 3-4.  This is no where
near like it was going from Samba 2-3.
