I just went through this experience using the D54250WYK/H NUC. No problems whatsoever in SmartOS installation. I did not try SDC on the NUC, but as SDC is an orchestration layer in Node.js on SmartOS, I don't see an issue here. I'm assuming you are going to pull together the NUCs as a head node and compute nodes. As the NUCs also PXE boot, I don't see any issues with SDC in this respect either. As I was interested in also provisioning my NUC as a desktop system, I have also been able to install OmniOS on the same NUC. I was able to install Xorg/Gnome on OmniOS on the NUC with no issues.
