I use consumer SSD's in my home SmartOS setup.
Really cheap stuff like SanDisk and such are dead after a few months.
Intel SSD's seem to be doing great though.

i'm consdering a really small deployment (think: 15 desktops hitting a
windows terminal services vm, with a simple samba fileserver running
in vm). this does not require a lot of network or disk bandwidth, from
what i can see so far. the deployment is for a very small company
without a lot of money, so of course i'm trying to determine how to
save money on the project. for the disk subsystem, the server i have
been given to play with has 4 sata ports and only 16GB memory. which
would potentially work the best - 3x spinning disks and a consumer ssd
for cache, or maybe 4 consumer ssd with mirrored stripes? or will
consumer devices just result in pain no matter what?
