Hi , On the Thomas Krenn site you find how to use HDParm. That way there’s no need for slices or partitions, as the OS will simply not see the OP’ed part.
I recommend using at least 25 ~ 30 % for those Samsung drives. Also make sure you do a secure erase using hdparm. Have a client running a ssd only pool using 840’s for 2 years now, and no slow downs. It is smart to use an Intel3700/NMVe drive for ZIL though https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/wiki/SSD_Over-provisioning_using_hdparm floris Van: Schweiss, Chip [mailto:[email protected]] Verzonden: maandag 25 januari 2016 20:37 Aan: [email protected] CC: Jorge Schrauwen <[email protected]> Onderwerp: Re: [smartos-discuss] consumer SSD for zones pool? No trim yet, but if you only partition/slice about 70-80% total capacity, the remainder gets used for garbage collection and performance remains high and they last much longer. -Chip http://www.listbox.com smartos-discuss | Archives<https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now> [https://www.listbox.com/images/feed-icon-10x10.jpgf70357e.jpg?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2ZlZWQtaWNvbi0xMHgxMC5qcGc] <https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/23995794-b2f92329> | Modify<https://www.listbox.com/member/?&> Your Subscription [https://www.listbox.com/images/listbox-logo-small.pngf70357e.png?uri=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubGlzdGJveC5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2xpc3Rib3gtbG9nby1zbWFsbC5wbmc]<http://www.listbox.com> ...:: House of Ancients ::...
