I have tested the Kingston HyperX Predator SSD HHHL PCIe 240GB on SmartOS. It was detected and usable without any problem.
It can be a superfast device for caching and log device. But unfortunality my server (HP) increases the fan speed as soon as something is plugged into the PCIe slots so I can't use the Predator in my home server. I would like to test it in our server inside the datacentre, but before that I need some advice on how to CORRECTLY partition this device. I am very curious about system performance when this SSD thingie is installed, since we have 16x 300GB in ZFS RAID installed. -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Ian Collins [mailto:[email protected]] Verzonden: maandag 1 februari 2016 0:00 Aan: [email protected] Onderwerp: Re: [smartos-discuss] Update gone bad, the Aftermath Richard Elling wrote: > >> On Jan 28, 2016, at 1:09 AM, Ian Collins <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> It isn't usually a good idea to put both log and cache on the same >> SSD. I assume that you would still recommend against using SSDs without power fail protection for log devices? -- Ian. ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
