The SolarFlare NIC is a 10Gb NIC, but I don’t think its in SmartOS yet.  It
will be soon I imagine, as the driver for it was only recently upstreamed
into illumos.

Now that said, if you’re using VMWare and a guest, you won’t use the
SolarFlare NIC directly, but a virtualized NIC (an emulated Intel E1000G
most likely), even if your physical NIC is 10GbE.
