The SolarFlare NIC is a 10Gb NIC, but I don’t think its in SmartOS yet. It will be soon I imagine, as the driver for it was only recently upstreamed into illumos.
Now that said, if you’re using VMWare and a guest, you won’t use the SolarFlare NIC directly, but a virtualized NIC (an emulated Intel E1000G most likely), even if your physical NIC is 10GbE. - Garrett On Wed, Jun 1, 2016 at 10:58 AM, Alex Kritikos <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello, > > I am looking for a guide to install SmartOS on single home lab server, a > DELL R610 with a Solarflare 10G NIC and an LSI SAS controller attached to a > 24 disk SAS enclosure. > > This is happily running ESXI 5.5 for a while now and i recently wanted to > move to SmartOS. > I followed the installation guide for COAL first to try on VMWARE fusion > on my Mac pro.
