The headnode isn't provisionable by default? Have you marked it
provisionable? You can use sdcadm post-setup dev-headnode-prov.

I'm not sure of anything specific. However the post-setup steps of the
CoaL (VMware fusion based install in a VM) should be pretty similar to a
lab. See

Which specific Solarflare NIC is this? Is it not detected at all or is
it just running at sub-10Gb. You can get the exact model from prtconf -d.
