Your information is very helpful, and well addressed my question. We do not use a configuration management tool now. Given that we have quite some KVM Linux VMs, it won't be easy to re-install them in new LX zones and copy data. So we were considering converting Linux VMs into LX zones directly. Last question, why delegated dataset is necessary here? Thanks again. I ask because the easiest way to to this is to replace your KVM win a new LX zone, install what ever was there and copy over data. There are tools for creating LX brand images, such as https://github.com/joyent/ubuntu-lx-brand-image-builder, which may be helpful if you have a set of identical machines to migrate.
