I took a whack at it w/ home desktop w/ a fairly old NEC/Renesas:

Surprisingly it booted off the USB3 port, but after that, no dice. Results
were the same booted off USB2 port, as well - plugging in any spec device
to the USB3 ports didn't register at all. (Note it was UEFI mode, if that
matters.)
