Thank you all for your suggestions. Unless I missed something, the common factor in them was that the serial console was a stand alone network device, as opposed to being a usb attached device to a server.
My use case is unusual, to say the least, but I can confirm that the network, all of the networks, will be entirely broken when I'm attempting to use the serial ports, which is why I was seeking a multi port usb-serial adapter. Again, if anybody knows of one that works, I'm still looking.
