Thank you Robert. I believe you are correct. I was unable to set the mtu to anything other than 1500.
I tried: dladm set-linkprop -p mtu=1496 v803pvt0 ...which errored out. Fortunately this is not a show stopper. Thank you Robert for your guidance!
