Ok, so it now appears that the same computer I'm trying to connect to works sometimes and not others. Rebooting temporarily improves my connection success rate.
I also seem to be running into the bug 6910378 "WARNING: Memory pressure: TCP defensive mode on". Maybe TCP defensive mode blocks outgoing broadcasts? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
