Thanks for the reply Sam.

I only have "Internal speakers / Built-in output" in Sound Output prefs.

It's fine again now and only lasted for about 10 minutes, but I  
suspect that as I had previously had headphones plugged in there that  
there was some physical trigger for it. I'll keep that it mind should  
it ever happen again.
