I think I must be misunderstanding what is covered by 'mini 
display port'. I thought it would not include DVI or VGA. Since 
the *only* way I can play video out of my macbook is via such an 
adaptor I couldn't see what was excluded....

I'm sure the penny will drop eventually:-) I'm no expert on video...
