Carole,

Thank you for being willing to help!

My problem is this: Every now and then a large chunk of text jumps to
a "future textbox" (sometimes even leap-frogging another page of
text) and refuses to be put back where it should be. There is no
obstruction (such as line returns) which might cause it to do this.
The Quark Technical Help people think it is to do with formatting.
However, the text was not imported. I am typing it straight into the
textbox, using the same Style Sheet for all the body copy, and most
pages are fine.

This particular book, "Letters From China" was written by a friend
and I typeset it for her in 1999. The book is suddenly in great
demand (there is huge interest in China since the Beijing Olympics)
and she wants to put out a new edition. Sadly, the printer didn't
keep it on disk, so it has to be retyped. I am happy to help out by
doing that (especially as the author is 89 years old), but this
gremlin is driving me nuts.

I have scarcely used QuarkXPress since 1999 (although I did upgrade
to Version 6 somewhere along the line) and I am having to re-learn it
as I go along. My copy of QuarkXPress 6 is on CD. I have tried
removing all traces of the program off my computer (using AppZapper)
and re-installing it from the CD, but the problem is still there and
seems to be getting worse.

I wondered if it could be something to do with QuarkXPress not
getting on with Tiger, but I can't find anything on the internet to
say so. I also wonder if my copy of QuarkXPress might be corrupted in
some way.

I also wonder if there is such a thing as a book template for
QuarkXPress. If there is, it would be a godsend!

I would be most grateful for any help you are able to offer.

Gilly
