Hello...

I am faced with the prospect of a mammoth erase and re-install on my G4
Powerbook (three years old) to attempt to sort out an issue with CD burning
and as a general housekeeping manouver. My question related to two kinds of
updates:

As supplied, I have 10.4.2 on the Mac install disc. I have kept the machine
up to date and installed all the intermediate updates and it is currently
10.4.11. Do I need to go through this all again or can I simply update the
original installation version with the final update? Will everything in
between be included on that last update? The same goes for the security
updates....

Also, I have a couple of programmes like Toast, where I have say 6.0.1 as an
original disk and have to go through all the successive updates once the
original is installed. Is there a way of "fooling" the mac to think that
the original is installed and simply install the update, which as far as I
can see is probably a fully functional version in itself? Can I also get
rid of the earlier versions which seem to sit on the hard disc and take up
space once superceded?
