I am having a problem with my Western Digital My Book external hard drive attached to my Mac Mini. It seems to be whirring away a lot of the time and slowing down the whole system.
I do use a partition on it for Time Machine which does its stuff every hour. That is fine but it is doing it for ages in between back ups. This has been happening for a while Looking at the activity monitor with iStat pro widget the CPU is roughly 80% idle and the top items in Processes are all apps I am using. Any ideas about what is going on?
