My problem is worse I fear. TM is not recognising the disk at all. I am trying to decide whether to "let go" of all those TM backups and do an erase and clean restart but without partitioning the 500GB drive. I did read that TM likes to use a whole drive and I was starting to run out of space.
I should really back up TM periodically to disk...
