If a battery's got to a point where it only holds half an hour it's  
generally time to replace it, especially at the age that a PowerBook's  
battery must be by now. You could try eBay but it's a bit of a  
lottery, there are many cheap knockoffs from China which have similar  
capacities from the beginning! That being said I've also bought some  
really good batteries from eBay, it's usually a case of contacting the  
seller if the capacity's not what you'd expect.

Replacing the battery is very simple, depending on the model you  
either turn a coin slot or slide a release catch and the battery pops  
up, you slot in the old one until it clicks in place then you're ready  
to go. I'd suggest a PMU reset after a complete battery replacement :
