Just to let you know what has been happening with this: The initial problem that I have had with FCP is the capturing of video from a video tape in order to be able to edit with it. I have tried three different "Tape Machines" (two professional Sony decks and even the camera that the pictures were taken on) and although I can see the pictures in the capture window that are on tape, I can not control the decks from FCP.
In the end, it was easier for Ahsley and I to use the telephone, and we talked through the settings on the MacBook Pro which all seem OK. The feeling is that possibly something is up with the decks...
