Hi Chaps.

I didn't realise that this problem persisted on 3 decks. I thought the  
problem only existed when using a Sony DSR-2000P, and that Andrew had  
already managed to digitise from a camera in VTR mode.

If its 3 decks then you're quiet right - it's highly unlikely to be  
anything in the deck settings.

Having said that I don't think you have a problem with your FCP  
settings , and it is possible to digitise in Capture Now mode. It's  
just the deck control that's the problem.  So it's thinking caps back  
on.
