The line remains blue and is visible no matter what application is being used. On close inspection it is made up of tiny blue dots - therefore not a solid line but having the appearance of a solid line. It's b****y irritating as you might imagine.

Without seeing it, it sounds like it could be a line of dead pixels. If it is, I don't think there's a way of getting rid of them other than having the screen replaced (lot's of £).

Do they stay there when if you change the colour of the screen. ie change the desktop picture to different colors?

Subject: [sussex_mug] poorly iMac

Moved my iMac yesterday, packed it carefully in its packaging and set
it up in a friend's house. Everything worked as it should but when the
computer had been on a number of hours, a thin blue vertical line
became apparent about an inch from the left hand side of the screen.
This morning the line was there from switch-on. Anybody got any ideas
as to the cause and more importantly a possible solution. The iMac is
about two and a half years old.
