Hi Sam,
Did as you suggested and the contact disappeared from the phone.
However, I set it up again and performed a sync, and hey presto, it is OK.
I wonder if I had set it up incorrectly in the first instance.
The other good news is that the back to my mac / NAP -PMP conflict warning has
disappeared, so I think I am sorted.
Thanks again for your perseverance here, much appreciated.
* As a general principle, should I expect updated put on the phone to sync with
the mac and vice verce, or does one need to be set as the default / master?
Steve.

Hi Steve

Open Applications > iSync > iSync Preferences > Reset Sync History. Then go to
System Preferences >MobileMe > Sync > Advanced > Reset Sync Data > Reset the
contact data from MobileMe replacing the contact data on your Mac, or the other
way round depending on where the most up to date contacts are.
