the basic rule is that unless you have encryption of the contents, physical 
possession of the disk is, after some work, possession of its contents. 

That means keychain stuff, auto-fill on websites etc.

There's the physical loss of the machine which is annoying, of course. Most 
thieves will wipe the disk, I'd have thought, but they might look for credit 
card details.

So this is a good idea because it will deter 'casual' attempts to get passwords.

auto-login is a bad idea but we all use it...!

If you're moving around a lot with it , I would say the more passwords the 
better...but it's annoying to have to enter them over and over.
