It's not the same thing, but I did have an odd audio issue with Audacity a
few years ago on my old iMac (with OS 10.2!).  I had set something in the
Audacity preferences that meant that all the audio that came into the iMac
was somehow mixed to the output (via the built-in speakers) at all times.
 From then on everything that I recorded on the iMac - even on other
packages - sounded like I was recording in a bathroom!

I know what happened - somehow Audacity output the direct input sound
together with a delayed "digitised" sound at the same time - but I did not
know HOW it happened - or how to reverse it.  It remained a problem until
the day the iMac died!

I just think that Audacity is a bit dangerous on Macs!
